Caldwell 3

About 14.5 million light-years away is Caldwell 3, or NGC 4236. Caldwell three is a barred spiral galaxy, though it appears fairly diffuse to wide field telescopes. Believe it or not, this galaxy is actually a part of the group of galaxies that include M81 and M82, which are approximately 11.7 million light-years from earth.

Once again, a fairly tiny (and faint) target for my Redcat, I targeted Caldwell 3 last night. This galaxy is fairly faint and rather diffuse overall, and would certainly benefit from a longer focal length. Looking forward to revisiting this one.
